Hey, good job for your first game in Unity. I think some randomness or slight variation in Becky's firing patterns would help your game a lot, or maybe making her and your friend move a bit. As it is, it's pretty easy to find a safe place at the bottom of the screen to either stand still or slightly wiggle back and forth in to avoid her dislikes and catch your friend's likes.

Thank you for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I agree, there is a bit too much of a safe spot in the middle. If/when I make another "bullet hell"-like game, I'll make sure that there can be static firing patterns or static enemies, but not both at the same time!

Nice job fitting the game to the jam theme!

I had to play it a few times, but eventually beat the boss, so it's not too easy, and it's winnable. That's great!

  • The only mechanical thing I'd change is increasing the friction on the character. The controls feel floaty.
  • You say you're just starting with Unity, so you've probably got a lot of things to learn. One thing that can get lost among all the other topics is "game feel" or "juice". Particles, squishing and squashing, screen shake. They can really take a simple game over the top:
